i was wanting to know some good otter sets weve only caught them in sets where you just put 330 in current but want to use bait and that kind of stuff any set ideas would help but there is this one place where i trap and there is a ton of otter tracks on the sand bank i was wanting to put in pocket set but cant with it being sand any info would help and also pics if you have any thanks

Otter will visit castor mound sets for beaver.You could also make a dirt hole set for them.Remember that an otter has a longer neck and shorter legs than most animals that a dirthole is used for thou,so set your trap back a little farther than you would for fox and coyotes.A double or triple hole set with the trap in the center would also be a good set.Use some mink musk in one hole,shellfish oil in the other or maybe fish oil.

Trap position is most important when setting footholds for otter. This is where most people fail to catch as they dont take the animals physical characteristics into account. Just about any canine set up along water will catch them just make sure of the trap placement

well I've been trapping on the sandy beaches of the mo river alot this year, I've found that 6 inch pvc pipe makes a excellent pocket. put it on the waters edge and cover it with sand and its a pocket set that won't collapse. I've had otter visit the pockets baited with muskrat 1/2s and fish pieces.
